Green tea, like black tea, is made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis. This light tea variety has been popular in China and Japan for hundreds of years, but has now also found its way to Europe. Unlike the well-known black tea, green tea is steamed immediately after harvesting. This inactivates enzymes that prevent the tea from oxidising, the colour of the leaves remains green and the taste light.
Of all the teas, green tea contains the most antioxidants and natural polyphenols, which are also found in many fruits and vegetables. They have a natural cleansing and anti-inflammatory effect. Green tea is therefore an important ingredient in creams that promote the recovery of the skin in cases of burns, blisters and ulcers or redness caused by eczema. But it also has a very good influence on your digestion. It is therefore not surprising that this type of tea forms the basis of our Skintight and 30 Day Detox.
Besides being healthy, green tea is also very tasty. And it combines well with all kinds of other fresh ingredients such as citrus fruits, molasses, mint and fennel. At tastea, we turn these teas into all kinds of surprising blends that are both tasty and healthy. But beware: never pour boiling water on your green tea leaves. This will give it a bitter taste. Green tea is at its best when the water is between 80 and 90 degrees Celsius.
